Welcome!
The story behind this blog is simple. My husband is preparing to take the RICA test and wanted to practice writing essay questions. We started scouring the internet (once he'd exhausted the sample tests on the RICA website and in two review books) and found few free resources. With the help of the resources we did find (see credits tab above) I created the sample essay questions on this blog.
Please know that I am not a trained test-question writer, nor am I an expert on the RICA. I took and passed the RICA myself six years ago and have taught fifth grade for five years. That is the extent of my expertise.
The way we use these questions is as follows: My husband reads the prompts, answers the questions, I read and evaluate his answers, and then we have a discussion about his responses. That's it. There is no answer key or sample responses. No grading scale or checklist of things that should be included. Just you, the question, and a willing spouse, colleague, classmate or professor to assess your response.
I hope you find this blog helpful; happy studying!
